Gurong Kaakbays: A growing network of highly talented and motivated teachers who are dedicated to transforming their students into effective learners and stronger readers.

Who Attends?
Outstanding teachers from SAS partner schools are invited to apply to form part of the Programang Kaakbay. After a thorough evaluation, the best are selected based on the following criteria:
- Subject Knowledge - Basic knowledge about reading as a foundation on which to build.
- Vision - Motivation to improve and driving force in day-to-day work.
- Leadership - Willingness and ability to share knowledge and lead activities.
- Resourcefulness and Creativity - Willingness and ability to step outside of their comfort zone.
- Dedication and Enthusiasm - Willingness and ability to go the extra mile.

Program
- Gurong Kaakbay Conference - a highly dynamic 3-day event to open teachers' minds and rejuvinate their commitment to teaching.
- Enrichment Workshops - conducted as a follow-up after the GK Conference to sustain the motivation of Gurong Kaakbay and to strengthen their skills.
Monitoring & Evaluations
Programang Kaakbay Liason Officers (PKLOs) visit the Gurong Kaakbays to:
- Monitor their school-based activities
- Collect feedback forms
- Assess Gurong Kaakbay's needs
- Provide resources and assistance
- Generate feedback
